David Wishinsky
My name is David Wishinsky and I presently live in Los Angeles, California. I started this blog at the beginning of 2011 as both a hobby and New Year’s resolution to try and find time to share my passion for baseball with the world. I am married to my beautiful and wonderful wife Tatiana who loves me but shares none of my love for baseball, despite saying to me at a Buffalo Bisons game “this is a lot of fun, we should get season tickets” proving to me that I had a catch on my hands. We have two cats who surely would enjoy chasing Blue Jays, Cardinals or Orioles if they ever had the opportunity.
Outside of writing all the content here at the Todd Van Poppel Rookie Card Retirement Plan, I also am a contributor to Athletics Nation am a co-host of TarpTalk: An Oakland A’s Podcast which was founded by myself and three other A’s fans fanned out across the country and was a weekly guest on Out of Bound Sports on WTMY. When I am not watching, talking, or writing about baseball I enjoy hiking out here in the glorious sunshine that is Southern California. I am also an alum of Michigan State University and enjoy watching their football and basketball games. If you have a comment for me, I encourage you to comment for all the world to see. If you want to send me a private message you can e-mail: tvprookiecardretirementplan@gmail.com
Also feel free to follow me on Twitter: @tvprcretireplan
I can also be found on Facebook as can this blog – though I have been poor about updating that page and keep aiming to be better at it.
Thanks to everyone who has decided to stop by my little corner of the internet!
I was delighted to stumble on your fine web site. I too have an interest in “TVP”‘s career. I was living in Tacoma when he was there with the Oakland triple A Tacoma Tigers. I once sat behind Todd and I think Wes Westrum, or some other baseball elder, in the stands behind home, eavesdropping as the veteran passed on baseball wisdom to the youngster. Todd was polite and attentive, and also had a very muscled back and neck. I also have a few Van Poppel baseball cards.-Rif
That is great stuff. Thanks for checking it out!
David: I have a photocopy of a check Todd Van Poppel wrote to my company for a radar detector I sold him while he was with the Madison Muskies! I too thought this was going to be worth HUGE dollars…..so funny I thought that. Who would EVER pay for a photocopy of a check? Would you like it? I’ll mail it to you..
Jason
That is great! I’d love if you could scan it! That would be neat!
