The A’s have activated left handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the disabled list, optioning Tommy Milone fresh off a “complete game” win back to Sacramento. Anderson’s year has not gone exactly as planned, after being named the A’s Opening Day starter he has had some rough spots in there and sports a 6.21 ERA (though acceptable 3.92 FIP) to go along with 9.0 K/9, 4.7 BB/9 and 0.9 HR/9 in 29 innings. That said here is back with Oakland, and he will be put into a relief role.
Milone meanwhile numbers-wise has been better this year, albeit not great himself, with 143 innings of 4.28 ERA, 4.43 FIP, 6.8 K/9, 2.3 BB/9 and 1.5 HR/9 baseball in 24 starts. He will go back to Sacramento and is a lock to be called up after rosters expand. The A’s are expected to activate Bartolo Colon tomorrow with the prospective cast-off being Evan Scribner.
