Adam Rosales Designated for Assignment Again
No one wants Adam Rosales, and why would they? At the MLB level he has hit .193/.268/.319 with a .262 wOBA and 64 wRC+. He has an improbabe four home runs in 153 plate appearances and has been a below average defender for a grand total value of -0.1 WAR. At Sacramento? The offense friendly, hitter wonderland Pacific Coast League outpost of the Oakland Athletics he has hit .211/.262/.263 for an even worse .243 wOBA and 35 wRC+. He spent three games with Stockton and at least there he hit going 6-for-12 with two doubles and a home run. What then do we have in Rosales? A guy who can hit High-A pitching in the even friendlier to offensive statistics California League.
Rosales has been designated for assignment yet again. This time let’s hope his move off the 40-man roster is permanent. Furthermore let’s hope that he just gets put on release waivers. The A’s have other middle infielders who present more opportunity for the future of the A’s than does Rosales. It is time they don’t have any of their playing time compromised. I am tired of seeing him stick around. That said, I expect him fully to clear waivers and be outrighted to Sacramento. I don’t know if he can block that, but even if he could with the numbers he has put up why would he?
The move to designate him for assignment is of course to add the newly acquired Alberto Callaspo to the MLB roster.
