Rosales Outrighted

July 12, 2013

Adam Rosales has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Sacramento. Apparently MLB clubs don’t want to pay someone in excess of the minimum when they put up a .200/.273/.331 slash line with an anemic .268 wOBA and 67 wRC+. Rosales returns to Sacramento and at least he can hit AAA pitching as he has a career .287/.344/.457 slash line there in 1,087 times at the plate. Rosales represents a degree of depth for the A’s in the middle infield but little else. I’d have prefered to see him play elsewhere because I think the talent is just lacking, but I do believe he seems like a good clubhouse influence so I have little issue with his sticking with the organization.

Funny I remember you as a
Adam fan at one time. I guess if he had a 36 million dollar contract fans, managers, everyone would say his name a lot different. Just proves a fact baseball has changed, I mean how it is viewed! So sad..

I want the A’s to win. Rosales is fun to watch but this isn’t a team out of contention where one can be content watching players who are fun to watch (as Rosales can be) but need players who simply are good. It really isn’t anything personal at all but Rosales has been an offensive drag, his versatility and the basic premise of versatility like this being so useful is flawed so to me the A’s are better off without him at this point.
