Cespedes Activated Off DL; Wells DFA’d

April 28, 2013

Big news for the A’s as they regain the services of Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes has had a slow start to 2103 and has hit .200/.298/.450 with a .315 wOBA and 99 wRC+ in his 47 plate appearances this year. That said he will unquestionably be more valuable than that going forward and the A’s are a better team tonight with his services. To get Cespedes onto the roster the inevitable happened, the A’s desginated Casper Wells for assignment meaning they have ten days to try and trade him or have him pass through waivers and send him to Sacramento. What is unreal is that this means Wells has the potential of spending virtually all of April waiting around during this periods instead of playing. Wells only got into game action with the Oakland thrice, going 0-for-5 during that time which included one start in left field. I doubt he has much trade value and I also doubt he will clear waivers so poor Casper will be sitting around waiting to see who asks him to dance this time.
