Sizemore to DL; Parrino Recalled
Scott Sizemore injured his surgically repaired knee in yesterday’s ballgame. Today he finds himself on the 15-day disabled list. It is unclear if this injury really really warrants a disabled list trip, or with the A’s decidedly short-handed with Josh Reddick also on the mend, that this move was more a we need to have more options off the bench type disabled list assignment (remember, Sizemore is out-of-options). Regardless, Andy Parrino is up. Parrino can play a host of positions giving Bob Melvin some versatility and thus far though he has only played shortstop in Sacramento has hit to the tune of .174/.174/.217 in 23 trips to the plate. Sizemore hadn’t seen much time at second base, and I don’t anticipate Parrino will either.
