Colon Reinstated, Straily Optioned, Harris Plucked Off Waivers

April 6, 2013

Bartolo Colon was reinstated from the suspended list today as was expected as he is set to start today’s game against the Astros. To make room for him the A’s needed to make two moves, the first was optioning Dan Straily to Sacramento a night after he made a sparkling start striking out 11 Astros. The second move was putting recently acquired Will Harris on waivers where he was quickly snatched up by the Arizona Diamondbacks days after the A’s landed him from the Colorado Rockies.

None of these moves are particularly shocking, in particular the Straily one has been known for weeks, but I still question whether the A’s have made an upgrade inserting Colon in lieu of Straily. Only time will tell. Harris meanwhile was sort of a non-big deal and no one fell in love with him and he did not pitch at all in any game in an A’s or A’s affiliate uniform.
